Everything you need to play, survive, and stay ahead of Cobb Can Move

Beginner Survival

Cobb Can Move Beginner Guide

Learn the basic survival loop before Cobb turns your first run into a short pixel-art tragedy. Cobb Can Move is built around changing rules, short survival runs, resource handling, and reacting to Cobb's abilities.

1

Start from the official itch.io page

Launch the browser version or download the current build from the official Cobb Can Move page before playing.

2

Use a supported input type

Keyboard and any gamepad are supported. Pick the control method that lets you move carefully, because rushed movement is punished fast.

3

Read the rule text every run

The core idea is that the rules change, and level 2 guarantees a sensory rule such as hear, smell, or see.

4

Move carefully around Cobb's senses

Sensory rules change how Cobb detects you. Treat sight and smell rules as direct danger signals until you learn how each one feels.

5

Use items without wasting time

Item swapping works even when the drop spot sits over a wall, so keep your inventory handling clean and deliberate instead of panic-dropping resources.

6

Learn from death tips

Tips appear after dying, making each failed run useful for understanding the next rule or mistake before you restart.

7

Expect rocks to matter

A direct rock hit can stun Cobb briefly, and rocks now sound louder, so they are a real defensive tool during chases.

8

Return after beating the story

A level select menu unlocks after you beat the game once, letting you replay specific story levels and practice rule combinations.

Quick Tips

  • Check the active rule text at the start of every level before moving.
  • Keep movement deliberate near sight and smell rules.
  • Use rocks as a defensive tool during long pursuits, not just decoration.
  • Read the death tip after each failed run before restarting.
Rules and Abilities

Cobb Can Move Rules and Cobb Abilities

Track the rule changes that shape each run, including sensory rules, pursuit behavior, duplicate handling, and balance changes from recent Cobb Can Move updates.

Cobb Can Move is a survival horror game where the rules change.

  • Rules alter how each run feels.
  • Check the active rule text before treating a level like the previous one.
Items and Objects

Cobb Can Move Items, Furnace and Breaker Guide

Understand the key interactable objects that affect survival, visibility, resource routing, and late-game pressure in Cobb Can Move.

ItemTypeUseUpdate NoteTakeaway
CoalResourceCore survival resource connected to the furnace loop.Coal is less likely to spawn right next to the furnace.Expect more movement and routing pressure when collecting coal.
RocksThrowableCan stun Cobb on a direct hit.Rocks stun Cobb briefly on a direct hit, sound louder, and reliably stun during pursuit after v1.7.Use rocks during dangerous moments instead of leaving them unused.
CarrotsRespawning itemA repeatable item source.Carrots respawn after being eaten.Carrots are no longer one-and-done after being eaten.
BatteriesEnding itemConnected to the ending sequence and final task. The final task text changes after placing all four batteries.Track battery progress carefully because the final task changes once all four are placed.
FurnaceCore objectiveCentral object tied to the main survival loop and coal routing.Coal spawning pushes players to move farther for fuel. The furnace stays central, but you travel farther for fuel now.
Blast FurnaceEnding objectUsed in the ending sequence. The blast furnace in the ending has a larger hitbox so it no longer gets lost behind it.The ending interaction is easier to locate and use after the hitbox change.
BreakerMap objectA visible interactable object you need to recognize during a run.The breaker sprite changed slightly to be more noticeable.Look for the updated breaker appearance when scanning the map.
Item Drop SpotInventory handlingAffects how you swap and manage carried objects.Item swapping works even when the drop spot sits over a wall and shows red.Item swapping is more forgiving, especially near awkward walls.
Story and Ending

Cobb Can Move Story Mode Levels and Ending

Cobb Can Move builds story mode around short survival levels where the rules change and Cobb gains new pressure tools. The official patches changed Level 2 rule logic, Level 7 resources, final-task text, final-task speed, the ending furnace hitbox, and the post-clear level select menu.

Level 2 introduces a guaranteed sensory rule

The v1.4 update makes Level 2 always include a sensory rule: hear, smell, or see. Treat it as the point where Cobb stops being only a wandering threat and starts reacting to the player's position.

Death tips were added to reduce blind restarts

After v1.4, dying can show tips. Use those hints to identify what the active rule is asking you to change before restarting the same route.

Level 7 received extra rocks

The v1.5 update added rocks to Level 7. Later patches made rocks more useful, so Level 7 play should include scouting for throwables instead of only rushing coal and batteries.

The ending final task was rebalanced

The v1.4 patch changed the final task text after placing four batteries and slightly reduced Cobb's speed during that final task. The v1.5.2 update then buffed Cobb's ending speed slightly, keeping the finale tense without leaving it completely overpowering.

The ending furnace became easier to interact with

The v1.6 update enlarged the blast furnace hitbox in the ending so players are less likely to lose it behind the furnace during the final sequence.

Level select unlocks after a full clear

After beating the game once, v1.5 adds a level select menu that lets players pick any story-mode level. Use it for replaying Level 7, practicing the ending, or revisiting specific rule combinations.

Quick Tips

  • Read the rule text before moving on every level.
  • Keep four batteries in mind as you push toward the final task.
  • Use level select after the ending to drill hard rule combos.
  • Treat the breaker and furnace as reliable landmarks during a run.
Endless and Replay

Cobb Can Move Endless Mode and Replay Strategy

The official page tags Cobb Can Move as an Endless, Procedural Generation, Survival Horror game, and the developer devlog explains seeded randomness, random rule selection, and Cobb's rule-based behavior. Later updates also changed Endless pacing by starting Endless Mode at Level 3 and tuning Cobb's senses, pursuit speed, rocks, and duplicate behavior.

Endless starts at Level 3

The v1.3 update changed Endless Mode so it starts at Level 3. Runs begin with more pressure than the earliest story levels, so first-room scouting matters immediately.

Procedural chunks with seeded randomness

The developer described the map as a randomly generated environment built from chunk varieties, with seeded randomness implemented for Endless Mode. Routes, item positions, and safe habits can shift between runs.

See, Hear, Smell, Reach, Duplicate

Cobb's official rule list includes sight based on player light level, hearing based on sound, smell that points Cobb toward the player, longer reach, and duplicates that can stack after Level 5.

Freeze and Starve

Player-side rules include freezing in low light and starving over time while carrots spawn across the map. These rules force movement even when hiding feels safer.

Direct hits can stun Cobb

The v1.6 update made rocks stun Cobb briefly on direct hit and made rock noise more obvious. The v1.7 update fixed cases where rocks failed to stun Cobb during pursuit.

Long pursuits and duplicates raise danger

v1.6 made Cobb faster during long pursuits, sped up random wandering in larger maps, and fixed duplicate Cobbs merging by making them push each other. The v1.7 update slightly reduced long-pursuit acceleration and nerfed smell, making the mode sharper but fairer.

Updates

Cobb Can Move Updates and Patch Notes

Balance & QoL UpdateMay 16, 2026

v1.6 / v1.6.3
